DIY Hand Held Face Cut Out Photo Board
Hello...
I had a stand at a local bridal fair a few weeks ago and I wanted to do something that would attract attention to my stand but that wouldn't cost an arm and a leg to execute. I originally wanted to set up a photobooth but I found out that we were not going to have that much space to set up in, so I had to think of something that would be simple, affordable and that would fit in the allocated space.
So I decided to make these cute Bride and Groom Penguin Face Cut Out Photoboards. Even better, I made them small enough to be hand held, which means I didn't need to build a stand. These are great and can be easily set up and transported.
You will need:
- 2 x A1 Pieces of Cardboard (These need to be thick and not flimsy)
- Picture template
- Paint & Paintbrushes
- Sticky Tape
- Craft Knife
- Pencil
Instructions:
1. Draw the outline of your picture (penguin) in pencil onto the piece of card.
(tip - trace a dress up mask to get the right shape and size of the face cut out, all I had was a scary skull, but it definitely did the job)
2. Paint your picture as you like. Don't worry if it doesn't come out perfecty. I discovered that the photos look more fun and creative when the picture is more "cartoony"or child-like.
3. Using a craft knife, cut out the face part of the picture.
(tip - I used some masking tape around the edge of the face cut out to smooth the edges).
4 . Once both your boards are painted and the paint is dry, place the front down on the ground. Using a wide clear cellotape, stick the two pieces together to create on photo board that folds in half. I included this step to ensure that both the boards were always held at the same height.
Now you are ready for hours of photo fun. When taking a photo with your board try to crop the picture to include just the boards with no backgrounds, or you can edit your photos afterwards.
